Improvement 2016

This is inspired by the draw meme, before and after and by the 2016 improvement challenge by DamaiMikaz

The first one wasn't a masterpiece, even my eyes back than knew it. But to me to ink and paint it anyway it was at least ok. Throught this year I've learned how to paint with digital media, well, I'm still training, but I think I'm going somewhere if I don't stop. This is due an investment, to source material and online classes and my own encoragement and pursue into knowing and taliking with more artists and participating to art projects.
 
Ok, they look very different, but first let's start with the basic, the IDEA. I wanted to show a family moment, Leia reading to her son, Ben solo, while Han won't shut up, so Ben is trying to make his dad stop talking. Uncle Chew is just there sleeping. This is the idea. And is executed in both works, what chages is the atmosphere and their expressions, the storytelling is very different now. That was not a happy family moment, there wasn't much interaction betwen Han and Ben, and now there is. They are looking into eachother now, not just the book, the book shouldn't be the focus point. They should.
Now talking about composition, oh boy, why I used such complicated perspective, it didn't ad to nothing, just open space to ugly mistakes of background. I kind like how Ben's arm goes to Hans, it creates a line and a direction to where to look. So I did the same thing here, adding the warmest color to Ben's clothes, the main point of this picture.
So, about the colors, what a mess back then. Now I actually stick to a pallet and planned before doing most of it. And it isn't a dramatic scene, there is no need to a dramatic light. A soft and warm one goes well.
The flowers have a lot of symbology, but if they don't go well at the compositions, why bother so much. Random flowers are just random.
Well, this is it, now I used my new acnowledge to make a better piece and show what is my idea.
